Don Harper
Don is the "leader" of the group. He sings, operates sound, moves and
sets up most of the equipment, handles some of the bookings, and so much more! Don sings lead, bass, and some baritone.
His variable range is unique, but helpful when it comes to filling the parts in a song. He began his musical talent
with the guitar and eventually began singing and playing the piano. He was saved at the age of 12 at Northside Baptist
Church where his father served as a deacon. He has played piano and guitar for groups such as Mansion City Quartet,
Dwayne Lee and Eternity, and River City Quartet. He also co-founded The Ohio Valley Boys with Steve Wilson where he
sang bass. While Don was with River City he felt that the Lord leading
him to start a family quartet. That is how The Harpers came about. He has played piano in church for many years and
has held offices such as Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, Music Director, and Youth Director. Don is employed at The Kroger
Co. as the Senior Communications Mananger. Despite his extremely busy work schedule, he always finds the time to help out
at our home church and take care of all the many tasks that keep our ministry moving. Don announced his call to preach in January of 2001. We
have been blessed to hold services and Revivals where Don served as the Evangelist and we shared God's Word through song,
which is an extra special Blessing for all of us! God has blessed Don with many talents and his desire is to use them
in every way he can possible to glorify God!
Penny Harper
Penny sings the alto
part for the group. She sings lead once in awhile when we can persuade her to! Penny has been singing for many years. She
started singing at an early age at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church with her dad who pastored there for 15 years. That
is also where she was saved and baptized at the age of 12.
When she was
15 years old, her dad felt the Lord was leading them elsewhere and her family left Liberty and started attending Northside
Baptist Church. That is where she met Don in 1979. They were then married in December of 1981. Although most of her family was from Kentucky and Tennessee, she was born in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is employed at Internists of Fairfield as a Billing Specialist. Penny says that singing with her family is one
of the greatest gifts God has ever given her. She truly thanks God for such a blessing. Her desire is to do only what
God wants in her life and to see lost souls saved.
Britni
Harper
Britni is the baby of the family. She sings
the high soprano part . Britni has been singing in Church since she was big enough to hold a microphone. She was 9 years old
when we began singing as a family. God has blessed Britni with a wonderful
soprano voice that just keeps getting stronger as she gets older. Singing harmony just seemed to come natural to her. She
was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in April of 1989 and was saved at the age of 6 at the YEC(Youth Evangelism Celebration) in Columbus,
Ohio and was Baptized at Northside Baptist Church. Since then she has grown in the Lord tremendously. Britni is like her dad. She has a wonderful ear for music and a lot of musical talent. She can play violin, guitar
and piano. She taught herself to play piano(with a little help from Mamaw Kay!!. She graduated form Northwest High School on May 29, 2007. She is attending Brown Mackie College for Medical
Assisting/
She wants to use her talent to glorify God. She had been asked often why she never
entered any Talent Contests and she saus she's not interested in competing, she just wants to sing for the
Lord! Pray for her that God will continue to use her voice for His service.
James Whitacre
James
has accepted the position of Lead/Baritone for the group. He sang that part previously but he moved on to other things for
a while. He feels God leading him back to the Ministry and we have gladly welcomed him back
James was saved at
a young age at Northside Baptist Church where his Dad was our Pastor for 16 years before he went home to be with the Lord.
He comes from a strong Christian background and he and his Mom are members of our home church, which is McKelvey Rd Baptist
Church. As well as his twin brother Jeff.
James is employed by the Hamilton County Police Department and has a
young daughter named Kaylee. She is so precious to all of us because she is a walking miracle. She loves music as much as
her Daddy does. She can't be still when the first note plays!
James has a true desire to serve God through
music and Ministry. God has blessed him with a talent that he wants to use to glorify the Lord.
